NATIVIA® films barrier against mineral oils
The Fraunhofer Research Institute conducted a study on Ti BoPP and BoPLA films barrier performance.
Study conducted by the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging proves the excellent barrier properties of EXTENDO™ and NATIVIA® films against mineral oil migration.
EXTENDO® biaxially oriented polypropylene (BoPP) and NATIVIA® bio-based biaxially oriented PLA feature an extremely high barrier against mineral oils, thus preventing their migration from recycled paper and carton overwraps into packaged food. This protection is as good as the protection offered by polyester and is significantly better than that offered by Acrylic and PVDC-coated BoPP films. This has been confirmed by a study commissioned by Taghleef Industries and carried out by the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging, Freising, Germany (IVV).
A summary of the IVV report can be accessed via the EXTENDO® website.
