Challenge
A key challenge in this context lies in reconciling sustainability with high performance requirements, speciallyfor products such as nutraceutical bars in which both barrier properties and packaging integrity resultessential.
From a barrier standpoint, healthy bar packaging must deliver robust protection against moisture, oxygen and aroma migration to preserve their organoleptic profile, as well as reliable resistance to mineral oils to ensure food safety. At the same time, the presence of hard inclusions within many bar formulations places significant mechanical demands on the packaging, requiring both structural integrity and high resistance to physical stress.
Solution
To meet these requirements, Taghleef developed a PP-based solution engineered, through the application of EXTENDO® XZMU technology to co combine recyclability, ultra-high barrier performance and mechanical durability within a single structure.
The outstanding structural integrity of this material translates into exceptional resistance to puncture andmechanical stress, making it suitable not only for flow wrap packaging but also for products with a highproportion of sharp-edged components that could otherwise compromise the system.
